SANGAMAM (UK) 2009’, (The forth family gathering of Piravom Villagers living in the UK ) was held on Saturday the 23rd May 2009 at ST.VINCENT CHURCH HALL, 467 EDENFIELD ROAD NORDEN , OL11 5XR .
About 85 persons from 25 families (including children) participated in this event.
The event started at 11 AM; following a prayer song by Jose Akasala and Mrs. Annakkutty Simon Enthumkattil (Ex Panchayat President of Pirovam Village ), Pennamma John Kudilil, and Mrs Mary John Kunjammattil jointly inaugurated the function by lightning the lamp.
There were different games and performances by the participants during the day. Lunch was served in the afternoon. In the conclusion session prizes were given away to the winners and participants of the games and stage programmes.
Discussions were also taken place about the future activities and effective intervention in the development of our village. Elections were also held to elect office bearers for the year 1009-The decisions of the meeting are as follows; .
1. Renji Varkey Vallothattil and Bino Mathew Vadakkeparambil were elected as President and Secretary of this fellowship respectively for the year 2009-10. Siju Simon will continue to be the communication coordinator. President and secretary will plan and expand this fellowship’s activities for a year and will also facilitate the fund rising for Piravom Development Fund 2010. They will coordinate with Piravom villagers from other countries to arrange the Pravasi Sangamam 2010, which will be held on 7th January 2010 in Piravom village. 7the January every year has been celebrated as Pravasi Day of Piravom village. Since January 2008 this day has been celebrated by Pravasis’ from our village who visit our village during that time by gathering together and contributing towards the village’s development.
2. The Sangamam ( UK ) 2010 (5th family gathering of Piravom Villagers) will be held in Sunderland on Saturday the 1st May 2010; Mr. Shaju John Kudilil has been elected as the coordinator for this event. Shiju Mathew Velayil has been appointed as the entertainment cordiator for the event. Other members from North east England area will offer support to Mr. Shaju John and Mr. Shiju Mathew in arranging the logistics of this event.
5. Members also recorded thanks to Mr. Roy Padayinchayil who arranged the logistics for the event.
